The ski resort was built in 1969 and the Village of Sugar Mountain was incorporated in 1989. The resort village of Sugar Mountain is high in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains with elevations ranging from 4,100 at the base to 5,300 feet at the summit. The premier ski resort is privately owned, while the public golf and tennis club is owned by the village making for happy guests who do not need to pay membership fees to play the course touted as THE #2 short course in the US. The winter months December - March also offer tubing and ice skating to round out the perfect winter getaway for families and groups wanting that perfect winter vacation without traveling too far.
